NovaRay’s intellectual property strategy is important to maintaining the company’s technology lead. NovaRay had 23 issued U.S. patents and has filed several international patents in Western Europe and Japan. We believe our success in obtaining patents demonstrates that our technology is substantially different from the technology used in other medical imaging systems enabling NovaRay to generate a broad patent portfolio primarily around various aspects of the x-ray source, detector, and image-reconstruction, including:

Target/coolant/collimator apparatus
X-ray source construction
Detector apparatus
Electron-beam scanning apparatus and method
Image-reconstruction apparatus and methods
Locating catheter apparatus

NovaRay believes that the company also has substantial protection through trade secrets and know-how regarding manufacturing processes, algorithms, software, and materials selection.
